    This is a delightful soup. Since it is March, I used quality canned tomatoes and they worked fine. It is an easy and fast soup, too. I did wonder about using the 2 tbs of sugar because I thought the acidic fresh tomatoes required the sugar. But when I tasted the broth, it seemed lacking, so I tried 1/2 tbs sugar. I was surprised that the sugar added so much depth. I do question that the soup serves 6 to 8. My soup served the two of us for dinner with a bowl left over for lunch.
