    As the other note, the pastry was a bit finicky, but I will steal one of the techniques, which is to roll the pastry like a log (having rolled it in a rectangle beforehand), before flattening it back to a square. It makes a super flaky pastry without too much effort. As for the filling, it's very good. I used chicken thighs.

    I made this to take to my father in law for Christmas Eve dinner. For the filling I substituted an equal weight mix of chopped celery & parsnips for the rutabaga (that I will NOT eat) and used chicken breasts. The pastry seemed fussy to make compared to my usual recipes but it was really tasty and flakey crisp! I have now added this LARGE pot pie to my collection with Jamie Oliver's and Barefoot Contessa's chicken pot pies.
