Smoky and spiced Dutch split pea soup from The Splendid Table's How to Eat Supper: Recipes, Stories, and Opinions from Public Radio's Award-Winning Food Show (page 76) by Lynne Rossetto Kasper and Sally Swift

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Really good. I used 2 sweet potatoes, which went well with the ginger and allspice. I also used diced ham (from a Polyface sweetheart ham). Really delicious.

    Absolutely delicious!

4.5 stars. A really easy and full-flavored rendition that reminds me of my grandma's Dutch split pea soup. Added chopped and cooked ham steak because that's what we do. Will make again!

This was ok. Richard didn't like it - because it was split peas
