Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

    Follow-up 4 years later: this has indeed become our go-to tortilla soup recipe. Simple, but so flavorful. As with most soups, better the next day.

    I think I’m going to try some different tortilla soups to add to the rotation, and this was a winner. :) Gently roasted/smoky flavor from the adobo sauce and the roasted tomatoes and garlic and onion, all of it adding up to a richly flavored soup. We started out cooking them on a skillet but switched to roasting them under the broiler, and rear was a lot more effective. I’ve seen some tortilla soups with tortillas blended into the soup itself, but this was a flavorful roasted tomato soup with chiles, with tortilla strips on top.
