    I had a pile of asparagus stalks after using the tips elsewhere and thought they might work for soup. I also deviated from the recipe by substituting strong chicken stock for half the water. Probably because I was using only stalks, the asparagus flavor wasn't super-strong and got even milder after stirring in cream. Totally fine with me since I'm not the world's biggest asparagus fan! My husband (big asparagus fan), however, also liked the soup. Texture was thinner than I expected - there was ~1.33 c pulp in my sieve even after lots of pressing - but very smooth and pleasant.
