Grilled skirt steak with pickled jalapeño relish from Small Victories: Recipes, Advice + Hundreds of Ideas for Home-Cooking Triumphs (page 159) by Julia Turshen

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I gave my skirt steak a lemony, herby, garlicky marinade but the star here is this relish. As always for us, Thai basil replaced the cilantro & I am very happy to have a new way to elevate the (many!) jars of pickled jalapenos on my canning shelf. We agreed that we would eat this relish with lots of other proteins...especially eggs.

This was a quick meal that had lots of flavor. I cooked it on my George Forman grill for 2 minutes (my skirt steak was thin) and that was just about right. I sliced the meat thin and put the salsa on top. It was better and more tender the more it sat in the salsa. Wonderful for a weeknight meal with a salad, not good enough to serve company.

Reliable recipe. The relish goes well with the steak, and was also perfect on grilled shrimp.

First time grilling! Steak was a little tough (our fault) but the relish was amazing.

I marinated the skirt steak since I had time that day. Agree with everyone else - the relish is very good, so easy, and a nice accent to steak. It is worth making for any sort of grilled item that needs a little tangy punch. I'd reduce the oil a little and just add enough to moisten. Definite repeat.

We loved this too. It takes 20 minutes start to finish and the pickled jalapeño relish is really excellent. Served with the potluck quinoa and fresh corn on the cob.

This was quick, delicious and easy to make. The relish was great and we will use it on eggs. Winner!
