Lemon-glazed cakelets (Amerikaner) from Classic German Baking: The Very Best Recipes for Traditional Favorites, from Pfeffernüsse to Streuselkuchen (page 36) by Luisa Weiss

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

I want to make Amerikaner/black&white cookies for my son‘s birthday & trying different recipes. This was the first time I baked with bakers ammonia. It didn’t smell that strong and I could’nt taste it afterwards. The texture is nice & delicate. I am more used to the more dense Amerikaner my family used to bake using Vanilla custard powder & baking powder. This might be more traditional but I prefer mine to be more dense and moister. I made 20 small ones, baking time 15 minutes.will update with a comparison to other recipes.
