Checkerboard icebox cookies from The Perfect Cookie: Your Ultimate Guide to Foolproof Cookies, Brownies, and Bars (page 76) by America's Test Kitchen

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

These cookies were easy to make, and they are delicious. I made them for someone’s wedding, and I kept some of the “less beautiful” ones for us. I couldn’t stop eating them.

These aren't nearly as difficult as I thought they'd be. It's a little tedious measuring and forming the rectangle, but not too bad. The texture was similar to a shortbread--tender and crumbly. I used black cocoa to make the colors stand out more. They weren't outstanding, but a good solid cookie. I would make again for the novelty of the specialty shaped cookie.
