    The smokey bacon was a good addition to what was otherwise a very green and earthy tasting dish (I used whole wheat pasta). I wanted to reduce the fat so I removed the crisped bacon from the pan and poured off all the rendered fat before continuing with the recipe and only added the bacon back in at the end so it retained its texture. Family ate it with no complaints.
