Fig and thyme clafoutis from Ottolenghi Simple (page 278) by Yotam Ottolenghi

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Can substitute crème fraîche for vanilla ice cream.

I loved the fig. Would eat that part on its own with ice cream or whipped cream. A great way to celebrate fig season. Definitely has to be excellent quality fresh figs to even bother making. Cake definitely has to be served straight from oven

I agree with lholtzman. not very exciting. I prefer his berry buckle.

I didn’t find this very exciting flavorwise. I was hoping for more complexity with the lemons and red wine. Unfortunately I overcooked this a bit, but it was still okay. At 25 minutes I took out and that would have been perfect, but I didn’t seem cooked through. A couple extra minutes was too long.

This was really nice! Will have to make again next fig season.

So delicious. The red wine adds a lovely richness to the flavor. In my convection oven, it was done at 25min, and next time would check it at 23min.
