Turkey pumpkin chili from Skinnytaste by Joy Bauer and Gina Homolka

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Can substitute ground chicken for ground turkey, vegetable broth for chicken broth, and pumpkin pie spice for ground cinnamon.

I used 1 lb turkey, 2 bell peppers, added 1 sliced summer squash, and skipped the spinach. Made a day ahead and reheated, the flavor improved, and I liked the cinnamon flavor (which initially I found too strong) together with the chile powders. Really tasty!

This is a delicious, easy, and healthy chili recipe. I’ve made it twice now, and it’s easily become my favorite chili recipe. I agree with Susan that the pumpkin adds thickening, but doesn't taste like pumpkin, and that the spice blend is great.

I made this recipe exactly as written except I used a combination of chili powder (1.5 tbsp) with New Mexican hot chili powder (1/2 tbsp) and omitted the cayenne. Chili is really good and i think the pumpkin purée just thickens the chili and doesn’t really add pumpkin flavor. The spice blend is great!
