    The cake is moist and holds for quite a few days. I used the vanilla milk soak from page 105, iced the cake with birthday frosting from page 106 and added birthday crumbs from page 106. Although in the book, the sides of the cake are not iced, I do appreciate a good amount of icing on my cake. It is, after all, a birthday cake.
