    Had no sweet potatoes but added (par boiled) cauliflower which worked well. Cut the carrots very small so it cooked a bit quicker, about 40 mins. Substituted juice from an orange for concentrated Robinsons squash and not for the first time, does the trick!

    I pureed part of the soup since it was pretty liquidy after an hour on the stovetop and I was looking for a thicker consistency. This was fine, maybe a touch too sweet for me, but not my favorite bean stew.
