Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Accompaniments: Seed crackers

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

  • Eat Your Books

Can substitute crushed red chile pepper for ground Urfa chiles; aged balsamic vinegar or saba for pomegranate molasses; crackers, butter lettuce, or raw vegetables of your choice for bread; grapeseed oil or olive oil for rice bran oil; and lemons, red wine vinegar, Champagne vinegar, or apple cider vinegar for oranges. See recipe for a variation.

This is a bit addictive. The more I ate it, the more I liked it. Excellent with some Trader Joe's garlic Naan crackers I happened to have on hand. I didn't have Urfa chiles, so I used Aleppo.

Note - Neither oranges, thyme nor rosemary are in the original recipe.
