    Other commenters on this recipe point out that the "cheesecake" layer doesn't taste like cheesecake, and they are entirely correct - it does read simply as a thick custard. However if the cake is approached with that knowledge, and any subsequent disappointment avoided, you're left with a rich, moist, buttery banana loaf with indulgent centre that was pleasing indeed.
