    Strawberry can be an elusive flavor in cake, but this recipe does an admirable job. I did use the optional strawberry extract plus red food coloring, which added visual appeal, but also made it seem more strawberry-like. Some extract in the icing might be good as well, and/or fresh strawberries on the side, or perhaps compote instead of icing. Texture was classic pound cake. Delicious and great for a crowd, as it's a large cake.
