Can substitute fried onions for fried shallots.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

This was good; I made some modifications and would make different ones next time. I was feeding 4 adults and 2 kids so doubled the pork patties. However, I only had as much fish sauce (3 tbsp) for the patties as the original recipe called for. I added some salt to compensate, which was a mistake--the patties were verging on too salty. I think that 3 tbsp of Red Boat would have been enough for the entire 2 pounds of pork. I also subbed in green beans, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers for the carrots/lettuce, and would do that again. I also mixed the sauce, noodles, and veg together in advance--not sure whether I'd do this next time. Also 14 ounces of noodles is probably more than what's needed here (I probably used 6 or 8).
