Can substitute cockles for littleneck clams, onions for shallots, tomato paste for sun-dried tomato paste, crushed red pepper flakes for Calabrian chile paste, fennel pollen or fennel seeds for ground fennel, canned Italian crushed tomatoes for canned Italian-style diced tomatoes, sweet pickled cherry peppers or sweet red pepper relish for peppadew peppers, and other crusty bread for ciabatta bread.
