Pasta e fagioli from Milk Street: Cook What You Have: Make a Meal Out of Almost Anything (page 21) by Christopher Kimball

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

This is a favorite. Works with canned beans, cooked dried beans and fresh shell beans. Especially good with fresh shelled cranberry beans from the farmers market. Add some crisp fried prosciutto and a splash of dry red wine.

This is a very hearty dinner bowl that is a great vehicle for cooking what you have :) We added pancetta & basil pesto and threw a parm rind into the simmer. Fresh basil went in at the end and I will make this again.

Great basic soup recipe. Excellent backbone that could take any number of additions (pancetta or spinach come to mind), but excellent on its own.
