Lentil salad with tahini, almonds and pomegranate molasses from Milk Street: Cook What You Have: Make a Meal Out of Almost Anything (page 89) by Christopher Kimball

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

This feels like a cousin of mujaddara (which I love) - will definitely make again soon. I used baharat, as suggested in the headnote, but realized as I was tasting that my baharat blend does not include cumin (¡escándalo!). I will add some next time I make this, because I love cumin with lentils and think it will enhance the dish. Also, I’ll add the lemon’s zest along with the juice when making the dressing. The fried onions and toasted almonds are delicious!

Really enjoyed this dish. Not particularly attractive, especially considering I made it to be eaten out of a washed sour cream container before a flight, but definitely a nice option for a road trip or picnic, filling but too heavy.

Very, very easy to overcook the shallots and almonds. I love tahini, but the dressing kind of makes everything taste muddy? Like, there is too much going on.
