Can substitute Granny Smith apples for McIntosh apples.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Delicious! This is the way my German grandmother and my mother made this dish. I used two apples, and cooked it covered. It can get dry so check and periodically add water. Chunking the apples works just fine--no need to grate them.
