Stewed red beans (Madesu) from Setting a Place for Us: Recipes and Stories of Displacement, Resilience, and Community from Eight Countries Impacted by War (page 74) by Hawa Hassan

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

What’s not to like? Tasty stewed beans. Used Jacob’s Cattle beans since that was what I had in the pantry, and they worked well. Subbed palm oil since she mentioned it in the header and I like it. With hot sauce and fried plantains - delish!
