Sour cherry amaretti from Ottolenghi - The Cookbook (page 232) by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Made on 18th August. Used xylitol instead of caster sugar, and omitted both the honey and the icing sugar. Also used the suggested alternative of dried apricots instead of the sour cherries as that is what I had available. The overall taste was still plenty sweet enough and I think I would also reduce the quantity of dried fruit somewhat next time, perhaps also the xylitol/caster sugar. The recipe is straightforward and still seemed to work well, even with my changes. The lemon zest is particularly delicious. I would definitely make it again!

Simple cookie. Good, but a little too sweet for my taste. Tasted better the day after baking.
