    The tomato seeding method was rather clever, although I can't see myself ever doing this for more than one can of tomatoes (can't imagine they use that method at Bi-Rite). Ling cod was a good substitute for rock cod. The mock aioli mentioned in the head note should really be part of the recipe, as it transformed a ho-hum soup into something really tasty.
