    This is a great stew recipe if you are looking for something a bit different. I made several changes to make it work better for me. I did flour the meat pieces and brown them before stewing so that I wouldn't have to add the butter and flour mix at the end to thicken the sauce. It took more time but worked out well. I subbed the sweet paprika and cayenne for bittersweet paprika and it was a tad too hot. Next time I would use 2 T max of bittersweet and 1 T of sweet paprika. I also added mushrooms to replace 1/3 of the meat called for, and I would add additional vegetables next time (any root vegetable would work well).
