Black magic cake from My Baking Addiction by Jamie Lothridge

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

This is a great chocolate cake recipe. It's very moist and has a good, strong chocolate flavor. It's great with or without frosting. The original recipe specifies Hershey's natural cocoa powder, but it's also turned out well with alkalized/Dutch-process cocoa powders. I've sometimes made a half-recipe in a single 9-inch round cake pan and that's also worked fine. I've tried a few different all purpose flours for this recipe and prefer the texture from a strong flour like King Arthur - tender without any sogginess/gumminess.

This recipe is actually from Hershey's and can be found on their website here: https://www.hersheys.com/recipes/en-us/recipes/cakes-cupcakes/4754/black-magic-cake The cooking time recommendations vary and the blogger does not include full info from the original recipe. This recipe produces a moist, spongy, chocolatey, foolproof cake that comes together in no time. I used a strong coffee and it was discernible in the final product. We enjoyed this as it heightened the chocolate flavour however this may not be appealing to all and a medium roast coffee may be better suited.
