    This is the second time I've made this cake, and I wouldn't say guests raved about it, but I enjoyed it both times. I scored the cake with 1" lines rather than 2", and it's best to start the syrup at least 10-15 minutes before the cake is done. The notes say to wrap the finished cake with foil or parchment, and that's probably because if you put cling wrap directly on it, it'll lift the almonds right off (ask me how I know).
