Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Roman holiday cocktail

    • Yildiz100 on October 08, 2018

Very nice. Thought it would be too sweet since the Averna and Vermouth are sweet on their own, but the lemon balanced it out. Very refreshing.

  • Crispy salt-and-vinegar potatoes

    • Kfaber on May 20, 2014

Like warm salt and vinegar chips

  • Braised spiced pork with cao lau noodles

    • twoyolks on May 31, 2014

I pressure cooked the pork for 45 minutes and then reduced the resulting liquid. The pork was very flavorful. Unfortunately, the noodles didn't really pick up any of this flavor and we're rather bland in comparison. Also, it's very easy to overdue the herbs.

  • Carrot salad with coriander vinaigrette and pistachios

    • apattin on June 13, 2019

bland. Needs more coriander and spiciness.

  • Beans and sausage

    • imaluckyducky on May 18, 2014

5 stars! This recipe made me fall back in love with cooking a pot of beans on Sunday to eat throughout the week. The chorizo adds a wonderful smoky zing to the beans, and the vinegar is key! I made a second batch today using only bacon and it was still delicious. Kind of reminds me of red beans and rice, but better. I got over about 6 lunches and 2 dinners out of this. Tastes great as is, but I really enjoyed it over rice, with millet mixed in, on top of a baked sweet potato, and reheated with a very large portion of almost-gone spinach wilted into it. Will be in the regular rotation.

  • Grilled steak with parsley-Parmesan salad

    • chawkins on September 05, 2019

Quick and tasty dinner. Only need to marinade steak for 30 minutes and the salad was a cinch to make.
