Yesterday I was making some cookies, and my stand mixer was shaking and shimmying something awful. I thought it was done for. I did a web search and found that KitchenAid has a wonderful section of instructions and videos for self-fixes for all of it's counter top appliances. They had a video on how to fix the neck pin - which was the cause of my troubles. Mine was so far out, it fell out of the hole when I laid the mixer on its side. It's back to working like new (darn, I was kinda hoping I could get a shiny new red one to match my food processor LOL).
