Online source of pine nuts that are not from China?   Go to last post Go to last unread

I have given up trying to find pine nuts in my local grocery stores that are not from China.  Wondering if anyone knows of an online source for non-China pine nuts?

Not sure about on-line but my husband bought “Aurora Natural” organic pinenuts at Whole Foods in DC recently. The source of origin listed Russia/Mongolia. You may want to contact them or see if there is an on-line source for that brand.

nuts.com has Mediterranean pine nuts (Pinus pinea)


pinenut.com has USA wild pine nuts (Pinus edulis - Nevada soft shell & Nex Mexico hard shell)


no known source - Afghani/Pakistani pinenuts (Pinus gerardiana)


what you don't want - Chinese/Siberian pinenuts (Pinus sibirica)

It’s worth bearing in mind that just because a food is labeled as coming from country X it doesn’t necessarily mean it actually comes from there. I know that China does a lot of shipping through a 3rd country to get around trade tariffs etc..... garlic & honey come to mind. Also food produced in the West Bank is labelled as from the “West Bank” which is fair enough but food produced in the illegal settlements in the West Bank is also labeled “West Bank” which is quite obviously misleading. It pays to pay attention.
