Has anyone tried one or both products? What are your thoughts? If you have tried both, which product did you like?

I plan to look for Beyond Meat product to use in one of the recipes. I do wish Impossible meat products are available in stores as we don’t normally like to eat out in the US unless traveling.

Rinshin, I tried an Impossible Burger recently and found it surprisingly meat-like both texturally and taste-wise. My husband, though, said he could "taste the chemicals" but I think he was just being a cynical carnivore! It does apparently have a lot of sodium (580mg per 4 oz. serving) which is concerning...but we wouldn't be making it part of our regular diet as it's not readily available nearby.

Thanks for the info Deborah. I think these vegetarian meat options will continue to evolve and get better.

Probably not the place to do it but....

I know it’s not very fashionable to question Vegan(?) meat substitutes but these fake meats really do concern me.

Your FDA says on the subject of ‘soy leghemoglobin’ or SLH a key component of these fake ‘meats’ is....
‘The current arguments at hand were not enough to establish the safety of SLH for consumption.’

Yet Impossible Foods makers of the impossible burger say on the subject is SLH....
“We genetically engineer yeast to make “soy leghemoglobin” one of the key ingredients in the Impossible Burger” they then go on to say.... “The FDA reviewed our data and gave us a “no-questions letter” validating the safety of our soy leghemoglobin. This required rigorous testing, including a stringent rat feeding study”

Impossible Foods claim appears at odds with the FDA’s position not to mention that this supposedly vegan/vegetarian product is tested on animals..... go figure!
