There is a Thai movie on Netflix called Hunger about the cutthroat world of elite cooking. The main character is discovered cooking at her family noodle shop and is invited to tryout for the kitchen of an elite chef.
On IMDB: Hunger
One family recipe from the noodle shop, Cry Baby Noodles, plays a recurring important role in the plot. Between spoken dialog and visuals, there are ample clues about the ingredients. Restaurants in Thailand and bloggers have been working to recreate the dish, and one is suggested by Tik Tokker Cooked by Mike: Cry Baby Noodles. Note that the article contains a lot of movie spoilers. The movie makes the noodles look and sound intriguing, so I think I'm going to give the try.
While I found the the movie enjoyable, it's not a feel good movie by any means. It's quite brutal at times, including emotional abuse, physical violence and some disturbing scenes of food gluttony.
