I consider myself a seasoned cook since I've been cooking since I was in my teens. I've made some elaborate recipes even in my 20's requiring 3 days of prepareations. Perhaps, I thoroughly read the recipes in the past but recently I've found myself making two simple mistakes because I did not read or understand the recipes completely. One was our dinner last night. I used http://www.eatyourbooks....icken-tinga-tacos. I never use full amount of chiles or hot spices since my husband is very sensitive to heat. I read 2 canned chipotles in adobo to mean 2 cans and so I only used about 1/4 to 1/3 of amount of 2 cans. Whoops! After reading reviews posted in F&W, I realized that it should have been just 2 chiles from cans.
I also made another mistake and right now I can't remember the exact recipe but I do remember it was from a magazine. Again, it was the wording that caused me to make the mistake.
