Thought it might be useful to have a place to shout about any good bargains we find!

I've just noticed that The Works are now selling Annie Bell's Baking Bible for only £4.99. This is a fabulous baking book that I would thoroughly recommend - definitely in my top ten cookery books. And it's indexed!!  Grab it while you can.

The Book People are always a great place to get cookbooks really cheap. They have loads of the big titles as soon as they come out and massively reduced.

EYB has links (click buy book) with Amazon and Book Depository from which they get a small percentage.. so buying books that way enables indexing of more books! May not be as cheap as some of the "best buys" or second hand books, but worth remembering for that new book you must just have and Book Depository does free shipping world wide!

Amazon (using the EYB Buy link) is always my first port of call of course.  This thread is just to highlight those extra special deals for books that are just too good to miss!

Thanks for the tip; I got one but they are now sold out - at that price I'm not surprised.

I hope you enjoy it Ray. I've got Napket's banana bread in the oven right now!!  It's my favourite banana bread recipe.

Hi Susan_F -- Just wanted to let you know that in order to add a link, the icon will remain greyed out until you highlight a portion of text you would like to turn into a link. After you have highlighted something, you click on the icon and a box will come up where you can add the URL -- hope that helps for the future!

Thanks Christine - as you can see that worked :-)

Thanks for the tip Susan_F.  I am going to be in the UK in October and I see they have a branch in Milton Keynes which is near where my parents live so I will check it out.  Not of course that I really need any more cookbooks but bargains like that Annie Bell book (love her books) would be hard to resist.

Whenever I'm shopping in MK I always have a look in The Works to see what cookery books they have - and nearly always end up buying something :-)

Jane, if I'm in there in October I'll be looking out to spot you!

Sorry, but I can't help suggesting another baking book - World's Best Cakes. It's just recently been published and is on sale at The Book People for an amazing £6.99. (You can also get it from Amazon for £15.85 or Waterstones for £22.60, so you can see why I got excited!!).  It's just been delivered to me today so I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but it's a beautiful book with some really unusual recipes, interspersed with suggestions of where to go to eat cake in various cities throughout the world!

Just realised that Amazon UK has Lorraine Pascale's A Lighter Way to Bake on as part of their Deals of the Week promotion for £8.10

But you'll need to be quick - deal finishes at midnight tonight!  Don't forget to use the EYB Buy Book link to click over to Amazon if you're thinking of buying this.

WH Smith have some great offers on cookery books all at £5 each.  I just got River Cottage Veg Everyday, one of the Great British Bake Off books and National Trust Simply Baking.  Lots of others to choose from as well, but at three I was starting to feel guilty!

Thanks for the tip Susan_F!

I went onto the WHSmith website, and bought the Great British Bake Off book, and Hugh's Three Good Things for £5 each!  Bargain!  And my NY resolution was NOT to buy anymore cookbooks!!  Aaaggghhh...promise these are the last ones I will buy.  Oh, except for Ottolenghi's new book coming out in September...that's different :-)

Just picked up the gorgeous (and indexed) Sweet Mandarin Cookbook from The Works today for an amazing £2.99!!
