Hoping for some advice. I currently own an atlas manual pasta machine to which I have attached a motor. I am contemplating upgrading and purchasing the kitchenaid pasta making attachments- both the rollers, cutters and the pasta press attachment for extruded pasta. Just wondering if anyone uses these attachments- how do you find they compare to a traditional pasta machine? Also is the pasta press easy to use?

Finally if anyone has a good egg free pasta for use with the pasta press it would be much appreciated. I have a good friend with an egg allergy and I would love to be able to make her fresh egg free pasta.

My husband is the pasta maker in our household, and he loves  the kitchen aid attachment.. we had a few issues originally - it wouldn't cut the pasta through  (spaghetti roller )  - Kitchen Aid demonstrator we ran into at Noosa International food fair said that was because our dough was being rolled too thin for the cutter.  So not taking it as thin, it worked perfectly. As to recipe Jamie Oliver - simple.

I have the KitchenAid attachment and think it is fantastic. I also have the pasta press for extruded pasta and think that it is very easy to use.

Egg-free pasta is super-easy. Just take 350g of semolina, a bit of salt (1/2 teaspoon or so) and 100ml of warm water. I mix these together and do the kneading in the KitchenAid. Let the dough rest for 20-30 minutes (covered) before trying to work with it, just like you would with an egg-based pasta.

Thank you both so much for your replies.

I think you have convinced me to buy the attachments. I am justfying them as a space saving purchase :-)  they should take up less room than my pasta machine. Deb, thanks so much for the tip about making sure I don't roll the dough too thin- I will keep it in mind if I run into trouble. Your comment made me think I must make a trip to the Noosa festival. It has been on my wish list for a number of years- maybe 2016 will be the year for it.

That egg free pasta sounds great. Whilst I was able to find multiple recipes on the internet,  it is always much better to have a recipe first hand that I can be confident will actually work.

Thanks again

I love my pasta rollers & cutters for the KA.  I received the ravioli attachment for my birthday, but haven't tried it yet.

Been eyeballing the pasta press - let us know how it works for you.
