Just curious if it is just me. I can't access any pages on Food52s site-it says I don't have permission. (I would be particularly interested to know if it works for others who are in Europe?)

Same here... am in London UK.

There are technical ways round it though

I think a lot of USA websites had to block EU visitors as they didn't have GDPR-compliant consents in place for installing cookies and storing registration data.

Yes am in the uk. I emailed Food52 and it is because of the new privacy laws and they are working it. But given that this has been coming for two years, I think it’s pretty poor that they hadn’t got their act together sooner. Very disappointing

It is, I agree. They didn't even have a customized landing page for the first 10 or so days-just a generic permissions error. They have now finally at least updated the landing page to specify that we are being blocked due to the privacy law.
