I like to look at recipes which are popular with the members and also look for particular recipes  I read the notes previously but cannot remember the names or from which books.

When looking at buzz, the recipes pulled up are not necessarily by buzz numbers.  For example, some with 9 notes show up before 11 or 12 notes.  Why is that?

Buzz is a combination of the number of ratings and notes i.e. the recipes that people cared enough about (positively or negatively) to add an opinion. Ratings is however by score - the highest rated recipes. Though because it is an aggregate score, a recipe with one 5 star rating would appear above a recipe with ten 5 star ratings and one 4 star. I don't think there is a way around this.
