The experience of loading my books from LibraryThing was good, on the whole, and certainly very easy, and very quick. Over 65% of my books are now in EYB. "Import books" only works on ISBN match though.
However, I found I had a few duplicate records where I'd already added a book but had used the indexed version instead of the version I actually have. I went through my bookshelf and made sure that I have just the one version, the one that I own. This means that for a few titles I've lost the indexing, but understand that Jane and Co. can link the variant versions so that I get it back. I'm hoping that gradually we can have separate indexed records for, say, the UK/Australian (eg Donna Hay "Flavours") and the US (Donna Hay "Flavors") versions so that I can see the familiar cover of my book on my bookshelf and have the indexing using the ingredient names that I'm used to, and that are in my book.
The other 35% of my books? Well they're mostly from the 1970's or earlier, some pre-ISBN, and some I wouldn't have expected to see anyway.
My other comment would be that some of the cataloguing of the book records needs to be tidied up - authors missing and so forth.
Great to see progress though.
Thanks EYB!
