Hello 

I just wanted to understand a discrepancy in the numbe of users owning a particular book. 

for example for the book Perfect Parties which I own

-> if i look at my bookshelf, next to the people icon I tsee 34

-> however if I go to the book page, I see more than 50 owners

Why is that? Maybe in my bookshelf it is the number of users with that particular edition? I don't know?

The number you see on the listing of books on your Bookshelf (or in the Library) is the number of Bookshelves for that edition. When you click the book title and go to the Book Details page the number you see is the cumulative number for all the linked books. So your edition is on 34 Bookshelves and the other three editions linked to it are on 16 Bookshelves, a total of 50. You can see all the linked editions for any book by clicking the More Details tab on the Book Deatils page, or by clicking the links icon in the book listings on your Bookshelf or the Library.

If you ever want to view the number of members owning each edition of a book, you can do that by clicking the author name. On the author page every edition of their books (whether linked or not) is listed with the number of Bookshelves for each edition.

I love the Bookshelf number feature. It's a great tool for cookbook discovery.

The sad part is that as in life and literature, the dead outnumber the living. I go to the Amazon page of a likely cookbook only to find out the book is o.p. (Of course I request a Kindle edition before I leave the site.)
