i borrow cookery books from the public library; now, I can add them to my bookshelf, so that the recipes in them are discoverable in a search on my bookshelf, and then remove them when I return them, but it's one more thing to remember. Wouldn't it be good if there were a category of books one could add to one's bookshelf which could be set to remove themselves automatically at the end of the loan period? The loan period would need to be a variable the EYB user could alter, as different libraries have different loan periods - here in Britain typically three or four weeks.

My local library has eCookbooks. For me I’ve decided to index them and borrow them when needed. Bookmark the books as ‘Library’ and I can make the recipe if the book is available.

There is a US-based resource that may be of interest: you can "borrow" and read on your device .. Books are generally available for renewable 1-hour loans. Some books also offer a longer 14-day loan; for these books, if there are no copies available, users can join a waitlist. (There is currently no waitlist available for books that only offer 1-hour loans. It's called open library and click this  hyperlink to take you to its cookbooks.
