In cleaning out my pantry recently, I discovered a couple of bags of Jasmine rice, and a cute burlap bag of Basmati rice.  I know about the differences in long grain, short grain, aborio, wild, brown, etc. rice.  What are the taste considerations of Basmati and Jasmine, and in which instance are they preferred?"

I like Basmati to accompany my Indian dishes, whereas I keep Jasmine for Thai & Chinese... the scent from each seems to match the preferred spice combinations in those cuisines...
