My daughters got together and gave me a gift certificate at a fancy kitchen store.  After months went by, I finally bought a steamer on sale that looked interesting.  It is a Wolfgang Puck 3-tier electric appliance.  I found from its booklet that one can make puddings and cheesecakes by steam.  The veggies and rice seem to take considerably longer than they would on the stovetop however.

Anybody else have a steamer?  What are your favorite uses for it?

I have found various sites on line with advice on what to cook in a steamer. I have had steamer baskets (metal and bamboo) but have only used them for vegetables. Several places recommend wrapping foods such as fish or chicken in parchment to steam. I think a rice cooker can be used that way too. Plop some pork belly or other meat on the rice and WOW it is transformative.
