I was wondering if Eat Your Books is considering coming out with an app for Android? It would be great to be able to access my library and shopping lists on my phone.

Thank you!

Hi Guebert - I think this has been raised before.. Jane (one of the co-founders) posted in the forum last year:

AlexandraJ - you can set EYB up so it looks just like an app on your phone.  Check out our Help section for instructions.

EYB members - we are planning to develop an app.  Please contribute on the Forum topic "mobile access" asking for the suggested features you would like to see.

Hope that helps!

PS : you can "search" the forum to see if thinhgs have previously been raised!

Actually, since I posted that we decided against developing an app and have instead been working on responsive design on the site, which means that all the features of the site are available on any device. We hope to launch this in the next few weeks. But the same advice about adding the icon to your phone screen applies.

does this mean there are no plans to ever develop an app, I understand that you've made the site much more responsive and work much better on mobile devices but theres still alot that could be done with an app, such as keeping indexed books locally so that we can search them when away from internet access and the barcode sc anning feature you mentioned in an older post would be great!

I love the most recent changes to the site and how it runs on my mobile, I'm perfectly happy with not having an app so more focus can go toward maintaining and improving the site. But I also would agree that integrating a scanner to make adding new books a bit easier would be a great addition

An integrated barcode scanner is still on our development to-do list.

I'm not an app expert but I'm not sure many people would want an app which required as much data storage as EYB would need. But in any case, now that we have responsive design we aren't planning to devote any resources to building an app.
