Just returned from a trip visiting our cousins.  One of my cousins loves to cook and he loves all kinds of gadgets.  Instead of deep frying, we tried cooking homemade lumpia with cooked veggies and ground beef in his air fryer.  The lumpia came out quite good for the most part except those which were rolled too loosely - kind of fell apart.  But, I was impressed with the crispness of the wrappers with only 1 T oil added.  He does not particularly like the air fryer because homemade french fries did not work well for him.  He also cooks most food and does not use much prepared foods.

I make fair amount of deep fried foods coming from a Japanese background such as tempura, karaage, tonkatsu, korroke, spring rolls, panko crusted seafood and veggies.  It would be great if homemade foods can be successfully made using good air fryers.  I'm reading many reviews, but a majority of reviews are for prepared foods ie frozen foods and that's not what I'm interested in cooking like many of you on this site.

Does anyone from this site use one?  If you do, would you share your thoughts?  One I'm looking is around $350 and quite big and I need a good reason to purchase one because of the size.  Thank you.
