There doesn't seem to be a bug. I checked all the recent Notes and everything I could see on my Bookshelf also appears in the Library Notes tab. Are you sure you didn't click the "Make this a personal note?" box?

I've noticed this happens to notes I've made occasionally too .. i can usually see the note if I check the notes on my bookshelf (and obviously if I go into the recipe itself) but it doesn't reliably appear in the latest notes list on the main page (although once I checked back a few days later and a note that I previously couldn't find on the latest notes pages was then visible). Thought you'd like to know this isn't a one-off occurrence, but it's never bothered me enough to report it!

chawkins - when this happens again can you please email us with details of the Note so I can pass it on to our developer? Or any other member that is happens to, please do the same. I need examples to give the developer so he can investigate what may be happening. Currently I can see your two latest notes for My Two Souths on your Bookshelf and in the Library Notes. Can you please email details of the Note that you saw last night that then disappeared?

Jane, just to be sure, the note did not disappear, it is always there in the data base, I can access it via my bookshelf, even when it was not displayed on the list of all notes. It bugged me, because I thought the "View all latest notes" function is just a display of your data base of notes in time sequence omitting the ones tagged as personal. Obviously, that is not the case, it was going thru some kind of selection process and the fact that it happened to me twice in a row (I haven't posted in a long while, so it is 100% repeatable), indicates to me that it is not at all random.

FYI, My Two Souths is not on my bookshelf, I'm cooking from a borrowed copy, don't know if that makes a difference.

Can I clarify? When you say "View all latest notes" you are talking about the link from the home page to the Notes tab, which can also be accessed from the Library tab at the top?

The Library Notes tab displays all notes created by EYB members in date/time order, except for those designated private notes. There is no selection involved as to what displays. Everything you see on your Bookshelf should also display in the Library notes. If you and others are finding that not to be the case then I need examples to pass on to our developer.

If you are making notes for a book that is not on your Bookshelf then you will be able to see the note on the Library Notes tab, on your Profile Notes tab (which just shows your own notes), on the Notes tab for the book or recipe but not on your Bookshelf Notes tab. Your Bookshelf Notes tab shows all notes created for books and recipes on your Bookshelf.

When I hit "view all latest notes" on the "my home" page, the tab on top automatically switches to the "library" tab, so I assume I would be viewing all notes in the library with the exception of the private ones. When I hit "notes/reviews" on "my bookshelf"', I see notes on on all books on my shelf and my own notes even on books I don't own, that means the two entries I made for My Two Souths are there as well.

When this next happens can you please email details of the note so our developer can look at the specific example and see what the issue may be? I have passed on your complaint but he really needs to see it happen to diagnose the issue. This is not something I have experienced myself so I would be grateful for any other members who come across it if they could report the issue, here or by email.

TrishaCP - I am seeing that Note on the Library Notes tab - it is currently on page 2, 3rd from the top because it is dated May 9. According to your Profile Notes page this isn't your latest Note, you have two more recent Notes that were made today May 10. Is that not what you think occured?

I received some additional information by email from another member (thanks Zosia!) which helped clarify the issue. She thinks the problem occurs only when you link from "View all latest notes" on the home page. And (for her at least) it seems just to be a loading issue. If she goes to page 2 of Notes then back to page 1 the missing notes appear. This suggests to me it may be a browser issue. If you try doing a hard refresh (CTRL F5 on a PC and CMD shift R on a Mac) on page 1 of notes does the missing note then appear?

It would be helpful if anyone reporting this issue mentions what device and browser they use EYB on which will helps us identify the problem.

chawkins - if you want to just see your own notes, go to the Notes tab on your Profile, accessed from your username at top right. Then you don't need to search through everyone else's notes. Let us know if you have any problem seeing your latest notes there.

Jane, I had no problem accessing my own notes under notes/reviews under my bookshelf, that was how I finally edited my May 8th note on May 9th. It was always in the database, I can access it either there or via notes of that book in the library. It was just not displayed via the all latest notes link for a period of time.

The May 9th note, I also entered at end of the day, because of the problem I had with the previous note, I checked to see that it was displayed on the latest note list before I went to bed and the next day when I checked, it was gone again.

Now this morning, I entered yet another note on the same book, so far it is still being displayed on the first page. Waiting to see what happens when it drops down to the second page.

This morning's note is now gone on both ipad and PC. Refreshed safari and rebooted PC, the note reappeared on first access in both machine, but disappeared on following access. I also noticed that instead of displaying 25 notes/page when the note was there, there were only 15 entries on the first page for both ipad and PC when the note disappeared.
