Hi,

I've had a problem since you updated your mobile page a year or two ago. Now when I click on the Eat your books icon I have saved to my home screen it opens a web app on the home page of eat your books, I then have to click the icon in the top left and press sign in, this opens in a new safari browser page. Reading the FAQ (https://support.eatyourb...hone-or-iPad-Home-Screen) suggests I should be able to create an icon which takes me straight to my recipes page, already logged in. No matter how I save the bookmark it wont do this.

Any ideas?

belljaf - it's a bit hard from your description to tell what may be causing the issue. Whenever there is a problem like this we suggest deleting your browser cache/history as your browser may be accessing a cached version of the site. First delete the icon you have on your home screen, then delete your cache in your browser settings. Then reinstall the bookmark as instructed in our Help pages that you link to. Make sure you are on your Bookshelf recipe page when you set up the bookmark.

If you then find that you need to sign in when you go to EYB, make sure you have not blocked cookies in settings. Cookies must be on for us to know who you are when you come to the site. Also make sure you add your EYB log-in info in Settings / Accounts & Passwords / App & Website Passwords.

Hi thanks for your reply. Ive tried all your suggestions but it still doesn't work. If I access the bookmark from safari it works fine but when I then save it as an icon to the homescreen it just takes me to the EYB home page and I have to click to sign in. It does remember my user name and password so it isnt the end of the world its just not as convenient as the app used to be.

I was about to post my own question about this, before seeing this earlier post.  I've had the same small but annoying problem for over a year - clicking the icon on my iPhone (iOS 11) gets me to the "Already a member?" sign in page, where I click Log in, then, with user name and password remembered, I'm taken to the Home page, and I click My Bookshelf recipes.  Three clicks instead of what should be one to display my recipes page.  I deleted the icon, cache, and reinstalled using the bookshelf recipe page, as Jane suggested, and it now begins at the "To create a Bookshelf you need to become a member . . . it's Free!" page.  Then two more clicks again.

Are we doing something wrong?  We - belljaf and I - can't be the only two users with this problem ...

Thanks,

Ed

I have asked our developer in the past to look at whether we can do anything to make the sign in on phones simpler and he doesn't think so. He believes this is an iOS issue. My own sign in on my phone is less clicks than you have so I'm wondering if there are some settings on your phone that will reduce the number of clicks.

When I arrive at the EYB page I selected for the icon (for me it's my Home Page), I click the menu icon at top right (click 1) then click Sign in (click 2) - my login info is autofilled and I am into the site and signed in. I have set up in Safari, Settings, Accounts and Passwords, App & Website Passwords my EYB username and password so it autofills. Now ideally that would autofill immediately when I click the app so I have asked our developer to check again if there is any way we can do that. And also why after signing in you are not on the page you landed on but at the Home page.
