A couple of weeks ago, I decided to order the popular "Jubilee". I usually go to Amazon, but that site indicated no hard copies were available and there was no indication that any would be available in the future...odd. So, having read somewhere a response from the author herself that copies would probably be available from random independent booksellers, I googled "Jubilee" for sale. Up came a company, Grenntermo, with an offer of slightly under $10 for a hard-copy, free shipping, delivery within two weeks. Again, odd (too cheap). I paid by credit card, and received a confirmation email. However, the confirmation had clearly blanked out the home address of this "bookstore" [NC USA I guess], and the phone number was also removed.
I have since received an email with a "download" link. Following it up, I find that what this company is offering is a PDF download of this popular book. I Google reviews of the company and find scores of irate customers who were buying a hard copy from Grenntermo and instead are sold only a PDF (not a kindle with pictures, etc.)
I have filed a dispute complaint with Visa. My $10 is not the issue. #1) I'd like to have the book. #2) I resent buying a product that apparently doesn't evern exist. #3) You can guess that author and publishing company are not receiving any monetary rewards from this pirating company. Be Advised.
