Have you used a soup maker? They appear to be more popular in Canada than in the US. Are they worth having an additional appliance?

We live in the UK and bought a Ninja Foodie Blender & Soup Maker ( Hot & Cold Blender) about 6 months ago. I was sceptical, but my husband had wanted one for years, so he bought it without telling me - would not be without it now! It’s such a robust machine with a serious hefty glass jug - you do need to have strong grip and arm strength to lift it and wash it out ( it has self clean function but I like to give it a good scrub with the brush included first) but there’s only been a couple of weeks that we haven’t used it in all that time- we had delicious soup for lunch today! It’s been brilliant for us: our diet was poor, my husband wasn’t eating enough fibre and I had lost interest in cooking, as it’s now just the two of us. We now eat more vegetables, whole foods and non-meat sources of protein as a result; it’s good for using up whatever you have in the fridge, freezer or store cupboard, especially veg that maybe you would have thrown away, we have saved money as a result and got back our love of healthy nutritious food. We don’t have a lot of counter top space but we’ve bought a shelf arrangement that gives you storage underneath also and it sits on top in pride of place. I have other gadgets in the cupboard Highly recommended for its Sauté, Chop, and different soup settings, and large capacity jug (enough for four large portions of soup) with lots of different settings. Makes great frothy hot chocolate - throw in your favourite chocolate bar! Brilliant.

I have the Ninja soup maker and I love it. It replaced another soup maker that didn't live up to expectations but this one does. It is heavy but really easy to clean. I use the clean function but then make sure I check it is cleaned usually around the pouring lip.

I am currently making soup as I write.

What is a soup maker?  How is it different from an Instant Pot type cooker?  It is surprising difficult to find an answer to this question on the internet.  There is a comic book series called Electric Soup and an album called Electric Soup,  and a lot of review and sales sites, one of which listed their favorite as an Instant Pot.  I haven't been able to find a Ninja Foodi Soup maker in the US.

I am coming into tomato season and will be making gazpacho almost daily, and my co op is loaded with lovely things, so I am intrigued by the comments.

A soup maker has a blender function which does not exist in an Instant Pot and lacks the pressure cooker function of an Instant Pot.  With the blender function it makes both hot and cold soups. I'm not sure about the control it provides over consistency i.e. can it make something between what you put in (chunky) and a puree texture? But I've bitten the bullet and am waiting for one to arrive.

Facebook has a Soup Maker group which left me with the impression that they are popular in Canada.
