Margaretsmall is correct that books printed prior to 1970 do not have ISBN numbers. We currently get our books data from Nielsen and Amazon and the data is matched by ISBN. So we cannot currently import any book data if there is no ISBN. There is an exception made if you want to index a book that doesn't have an ISBN. We have to add all the data manually which is why we can only do it if the book is being indexed.
If you want to index one of your books you need to send us the book title, subtitle, author, format, number of pages, publisher, country of pubication and date of publication. Also if possible a scan or photo of the book cover - don't worry about size or cropping as we can do that.
Rinshin - do you know that if you ever cannot find a book in the EYB Library, you can request that we add it by importing the ISBN in Import Books? This is explained in Help. If we can get the data from Amazon then we will import it and it will be added to the Library and automatically to your Bookshelf. I have added the book you mention Treasures of Sicilian Cuisine so you can now add it to your Bookshelf. As long as you have an ISBN number then you can request that we add any book.
