I trust the rating done by members of EWB than any random reviewers or blog reviews. Normally I don't pay much attention to those.  For example, most people report very favorable reviews in Serious Eats after the recipes.  I suspect people who were not happy with the results normally do not post there.  I would not.  But here we feel the freedom to post the reviews as we see it. 

There are notes and under the notes we can assign star rating here.  But, not possible to see the average star rating from EYB members when just flipping through recipes in the book.  Instead we see the rating from the reviews.

Rinshin - I'm not sure what you mean by "Instead we see the ratings from the reviews".  The star ratings are from EYB members only.  What you see is the average of the ratings.  If you click on the recipe title to go to the recipe details page you can see how many members voted for the recipe.  If you hover over the stars you can see what your own rating was.

I like to see average star rating based on recipes made by members with notes  and not based on book only.

We'll have a think about that and add it to our to-do list.
